It is situated in a picturesque place under Todorini kukli peak. Founded in 1240, it is one of the main places for the growth of Bulgarian education and literature, for the encouraging  of the Christian religion and the Bulgarian nationality. The iconostasis in the temple of the monastery was declared a monument of culture. At the entrance of the monastery there is a restaurant offering traditional Bulgarian dishes.
